Opera Neon: An Upcoming Web Browser Generation
After being acquired by a group of Chinese investors, Opera is now attempting to disrupt the web browser market with the launch of Opera Neon.
Similar to Chrome before it, Opera is attempting to set itself apart from the competition by introducing a new design that is both distinctive enough to draw attention and not so distinctive as to be overlooked by consumers. For example, the layout’s design places the address bar and menu on the same vertical axis, which many may perceive as being very similar to a website’s background. But the main distinction is that opera has disabled the toolbar that used to be present in all versions of the browser and instead relies on the desktop for making menus, which gives it a distinct advantage over its competitors.
